Coach Gina has been providing group runs for the Ann Arbor community since 1998. Knowing what is important to her for a long run, Gina wanted to provide the same for other runners – water stations, a variety of marked courses, a group of runners who can run with other “like paced” runners, camaraderie, and best of all – a whole lot of fun.

Since 1998, Gina has kept her mission and continues to provide group runs that are safe and fun. Today Gina works with the Ann Arbor Running Company to provide fun group runs with a variety of courses that show case our beautiful Ann Arbor. Run Ann Arbor today!

It is hard to get “serious” with Coach Gina, unless you are talking about running. Gina has been running since 1975 and since that time, Gina has run 10 marathons, over 50 half marathons, and had a addiction for 5Ks in the 90s when she reaped a lot of “hardware” (awards). Gina boasts about her 1990s personal bests in the 5K 19:59, 10K 42:14, 10 mile 69:34, half marathon 1:38:22, and marathon 3:43:49.

IMG_0534Gina qualified for Boston at three marathons and ran Boston in 1998 after her 1997 NYC Marathon qualifying marathon. Gina trained with the Motor City Women’s racing team and helped the team obtain the Gold Medal for the 10K at the World Championships in Toronto in 1994. In 1998, Gina started managing group runs and has been doing it ever since. In 2000 Gina got certified as an Adult Running Coach by the RRCA and in 2008 Gina became certified as an WellCoach by the American College of Sports Medicine Wellcoaches program.

IMG_0535Gina has many years of experience with the average runner, the beginner runner, and the runner who is looking to improve his/her running paces. Although Gina has never sent anyone to the Olympics, she has gotten runners to Boston. Gina boasts that 99% of her coaching expertise comes from the 18 years of coaching the average runner, her running background, and her years of participating in competitive races. Gina can pull from her own experience of winning races to losing races and coming in last. She can recognize and relate to the goals and motivations of the fast and the not-so-fast runner.

You can find Coach Gina at all the Run Ann Arbor Tuesday night workouts and all the Run Ann Arbor Saturday group runs for guidance and support. Gina also supports Ann Arbor Running Company in providing runners with more running opportunities that are motivating, fun, and educational.

Coach Gina started a running group in 1998 called “Two Dogs Running“ with a bunch of Ann Arbor running friends. Soon after that Gina created a 18 week “Half and Full marathon” training program that she conducted twice a year. The half and full training program was called “501”. Many of the runners from the training programs would continue to run with Gina’s “Two Dogs Running” group each Saturday and Sunday and her group grew to well over 200 runners.  In May of 2015 Gina met with the Ann Arbor Running Company, Nick Stanko and Ian Forsyth, and formed a working relationship. Gina agreed to have her running group run from the Ann Arbor Running stores and changed the name of her group to RUN ANN ARBOR for a better fit with the store.

Gina loves group running and will continue to provide runners a place to run as long as she is able.
